This morning started just like any other. We woke up, the "King" drank his bottle while I got dressed, we ate breakfast and prepared for our walk. Before we left my girlfriend Jenny called and asked if she could come along - which I thought was great, because I love spending time with her.
We met at the corner and walked together. She practiced speaking Spanish with me. All in all, a great way to start my day. When we got back from the walk, I started cleaning the house and doing laundry - Leonard and I have both been pretty sick the last few days so there was a few things to catch up with. I have been limiting the amount of TV I allow Leo to watch and I was so pleased that he played quite nicely by himself without the TV for some time. I talked on the phone with Lisa for a little while (who dutifully reminded me of my need to blog). I then continued being the domestic goddess that I am, and finally got around to hanging the picture frame Ben & Lettie gave us for Christmas. I then got another phone call reminding me that I am taking dinner to a friend tonight....ugh, I completely forgot all about that. Thank goodness for the reminder.
Then Leonard's Dad called around lunch time wanting to take Leo out for lunch and to the mall to ride the train and the merry-go-round. Since Leo was already eating and getting ready for a nap we decided Friday would be a better day. We hung up the phone I was feeling a little sad, I guess, because I thought he never has been anywhere without me or his Dad before. My little boy isn't so little anymore. Yeah, Leonard's parents have taken Leo to El Pollo Loco when they've been babysitting him but this is different. This is a trip to the MALL. Leonard's Dad has been waiting for Leo to be old enough for this trip and while he is still my baby this only reaffirms the fact that he is not a baby. He's a toddler now. Boo-hoo. It went by so fast. It's almost mean how quickly that time slipped away.
So I'm feeling all this emotion and then Leo dives head first into the bathtub because he wants a toy that he threw in there. Back to reality. After we sand the "Sana-sana" song and made everything all better, I decide to use the restroom. In the 45 seconds it took me to pee, Leo manages to do something to the TV that will require a 45 minute phone call to Customer Service to fix. Who knows what he did? Then I go upstairs to get the laundry out of the dryer and in the time it took to do that, Leo had taken all my neatly folded clothes from the bed, thrown them onto the floor and is throwing them around playing in it.
Leo's pediatrician at his last visit expressed some concern that he isn't reaching certain milestones....I don't know, he seems pretty normal to me. Is it nap time yet?

Interesting day. I was talking to a co worker about this exact topic; letting go of your baby when the grandparents want to spend time with them. The topic started when she informed me she was leaving early to avoid traffic. Apparently, her 1 yr + old son had spent THREE DAYS and nights with his grandparents. I asked her how she did it. She said the first night, she cried. But she said if you have good grandparents for your baby, take advantage. That was her best advice for me.
I don't know how I am going to do it.
Hmmmm can't wait to read what happened to your TV.
Wow, what a day. As Jonathan tries to learn to walk I find that I'm clinging like crazy to his babyhood. Sigh.
No kidding. That is some day. He seems pretty NORMAL to me too! It would be nice if professionals would learn the art of being SPECIFIC. Well...I see you know how to make your sis in law a happy girl. I like keeping tabs on my LOVED ONES.
