The Zoo was GREAT! We had so much fun. We weren't sure how it was going to turn out, so we got a slow start and figured we'd stay until nap time, giving us about 3 hours at the zoo. Much to our surprise, that turned out to be much too little time. Leo loved it! He enjoyed everything so much. The flamingos of all things were his favorite. However, the gorillas were a close second. I was really proud of him, because for all his fear of people, he has no fear whatsoever of animals. We took him into the petting zoo and he got in all the faces of the goats and brushed them without any hesitation.
We are planning a return trip and might even opt for the San Diego Zoo, but I don't know, I really enjoyed the LA zoo. It only cost $12/adult to get in and the parking was free. Getting there is extremely easy, with immediate access to the freeway. We loved it, it really was the best day!

How fun!! My kids love the zoo! Unfortunately, the only way I know how to get home is through San Marino/Pasadena. Don't ask me how I've been lost that way so many times it is the only way I know how to do it. :0(
OK, that tail picture made my day. He's adorable!
The zoo sounds awesome.
Is it just me, or have all of the quasi-educational venues -- like zoos, museums, and libraries -- gotten a lot hipper over the years? It's a great time to be a kid (especially one with such a loving mommy and daddy).
You look so pretty and happy, Liz! Going to the zoo is one of my favorite memories. I haven't been in about 4 years, but even then, I noticed the updates too. Perhaps this will turn into an annual trip :)
I'm so glad that you all had a good time! I don't know how close the Santa Ana Zoo is to you but it is much smaller and very child friendly. I chaperoned a field trip of kindergarteners there once and it was great!
Th kid looks like he's in HEAVEN! You look like Kattie in that last pic. I wsn't sure that was you until I saw Iris' comment. I love seeing the 2 Leo's together. What a fantastic day, huh?
