It's time to take away the beloved bottle. My goal is to have him drinking cold milk from a cup by July 4th. I plan to work him up to the change slowly, since change is difficult for my stubborn little guy. He adjusts quickly though. I know that sounds like a contradictory statement, but it makes sense to me.
I just think he is very dependent on his pacifier and he loves a good bottle any day. I know when the day comes for his pacifier to go, it will be a terrible, terrible thing for him. I don't plan on making that day come any time sooner than it has to. I'll wait till we have a sibling on the way to do that one. But for now, he doesn't like to drink milk from a cup, period. Nor does he like it cold. So I figure I will slowly shorten the amount of time that I warm his bottles making it become gradually cooler. Once I have him drinking cold milk in his bottle, I will then go for the big change--bottle to cup.
Leonard and I are trying to have another baby right now, and I would hate to throw a lot of change at him all at once. Come September, I hope to begin potty training. I just think there are a lot of things coming up for him, it's best to start now, and work slowly than to be forced into too much all at once. This way, I can do it in a way that won't be traumatizing for him. Who knows when I'll actually become pregnant? If it's anything like last time, I am really getting a head start on things, but you never know and I want to be prepared.

Good luck with the cup (and the baby)! Change isn't easy for anyone, but it's all for a good cause. Plus, I think your strategy of slow and steady change is incredibly smart.
You sure thing ahead. You're way up on me in that dept. I had a thought about the cup. Little Leo loves Irene's kids. Maybe you can make sure there's enough cups with sipper seals on it for 5 & have the kids all get their drinks and nonchalantly hand little Leo a cup and they can all sit around & have a drink! Good luck with everything!! Although I've heard it's best not to even TRY to potty train boys until they're 3. We'll see how I feel when I get there. :)
